Playing to a Full House
Playing to a Full House
Years ago I was commissioned by Pepsi to do a series of original works for 15 different musical artists that performed at the Pepsi Center in Denver. The artists included Carlos Santana, Elton John, and U2. I started forming the concept for this piece while working on that project. I wanted to create an abstract musical playing card. I have the two faces on opposite corners, one playing the keyboards and the other the sax. (The center of the sax is a roulette wheel) There is a fire in one corner, water in the other. In the center, I have African Tribal drums representing the roots of music. I have included hearts, spades, diamonds, and clubs throughout. I call this piece, "Playing to a Full House".
