Humuhumunukunukuapua'a handpainted collage
Humuhumunukunukuapua'a handpainted collage
I have been doing these 3-D collages for a while….i LOVE them… first I hand draw the subject in colored pencil and ink, then have a very limited number of prints made on very heavy soft watercolor paper. Then I hand color the print in colored pencil ( color on top of color) then I accent the entire thing in gold leaf. next step I cut it out with an Xacto knife and mount it using acid free spacers, onto a background I have handpainted in acrylic gouche ( which is a very flat highly pigmented paint) . WHEW!! I sell them in order so you will get the lowest number I have at that time, These also come already matted in a black double mat, acrylic glazing, and flat black metal gallery frame. All of the collages I do are framed the same way, fish swimming the same direction, and even though each background is different, I use the same color palette so that they all coordinate. So whether you are looking to start a collection or add to your collection these are a wonderful pop of color for any room. Each one also comes with a certificate of authenticity.
This one is the Hawaii State Fish…The Humuhumunukunukuapua’a…which loosely translates to ‘patchwork fish with a nose like a pig”!!
Each one measures 12x16 and is limited to an edition of 100.
